Nick
Burrage
Business Owner, Entrepreneur, Author, Coach, Marketing enthusiast (hater of fluffy marketing)
I love supporting ambitious business owners like you by building a slicker, more automated business that delivers growth for you and your life.
Executive Summary.
15 years in global marketing agencies – Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy et al.
I then spent my life savings buying a business. Business went bankrupt.
Painful lessons learned, which I now share to help others avoid my mistakes – which were:
- No clear plan for sales – now we build funnels that sell on autopilot
- No understanding of the content that turns a website into a 24/7 sales machine – but now I’m a coach for the most powerful framework – ‘TAYA by Marcus Sheridan’.
- No adoption of useful technology – now I’m running AI programmes for companies across the USA and the UK.
- No automations to sell while I sleep – now I have fully automated sales tools such as Manychat and Metricool.
- No team of expert SEO people around me – now I have just that.
Recently authored ‘The Happily Ever After Guide to Choosing a Website Design Agency’. I wrote this following years of meeting burned-out, scared and nervous clients with terrible experiences with a website agency.
Here’s what Chat GPT said about me, Nick Burrage.
The team asked me to write my bio page. I asked AI to do it.
Big mistake?
Possibly – watch the video for the full horror (and some amazing bits).
Ai said: Nick Burrage is a visionary entrepreneur …
… and the driving force behind Ambitions, an agency built to support ambitious business owners who want slicker, more automated growth. Born in the US and raised in London, Nick’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident from a young age. From selling hand-crafted designs to starting small-scale ventures, Nick always saw opportunities where others didn’t.
Comments: I never sold hand-crafted designs,..but I once rented out the residents’ parking garage at my Dad’s house. It had 60 spaces and was next door to Olympia – A big venue in central London. I made £1200 in a weekend, which wasn’t bad for a schoolboy. I slightly amended some stuff here, and Ai didn’t know where I was born, which is a relief, to be honest.
AI said: Nick’s early career began in traditional marketing roles, but he quickly realised the industry was on the cusp of a digital revolution. In the mid-2000s, Nick transitioned from working in corporate environments to founding his own agency with one goal: helping businesses thrive in an era dominated by online platforms.
Comments: True: I started out working at global marketing agencies, notably 4 years at Saatchi & Saatchi and a fair amount at Ogilvy, where I was on the Ford Global Brand team in Detroit and London. I created advertising campaigns for Ariel, Toyota, Sky TV and Carlsberg, among others. False: I was a marketing director until 2015 when I created the agency.
AI said: The Ambitions Agency was born out of this desire. Initially a small consultancy, it grew rapidly under Nick’s leadership, evolving into a full-service agency that has worked with global brands and local businesses alike. Nick’s knack for identifying “underpriced attention” and leveraging it to maximise client growth became the foundation of the agency’s strategy.
Comments: False: No global brands just yet, steady on Chat GPT! I wanted to use the tools I had at Saatchi and Ogilvy to help smaller companies grow. We now work for small businesses up to quite large ones but no global brands. ‘Underpriced attention’ is a great phrase – from Gary Vaynerchuk I think.
AI said: From the start, Nick was an advocate for cutting-edge tools like paid ads, content marketing, and early adoption of social media platforms. He firmly believed that businesses of all sizes deserved access to top-tier digital marketing strategies, and this belief fueled the ethos of The Ambitions Agency.
Comments: Ok fair enough. Today, the tool is AI. I am now running AI Voice assistants for UK and USA clients.
AI said: Beyond agency work, Nick dedicated himself to educating others. In [year], he launched an online series dissecting marketing trends and answering pressing questions from small business owners. This initiative quickly became a go-to resource for entrepreneurs looking to scale their ventures using smart, actionable strategies.
Comments: I did not do this, but what a great idea. I’ll do it now.
Nick’s influence extends beyond marketing. As a mentor and public speaker, he shares insights from his own journey, emphasising grit, adaptability, and the power of storytelling in building a brand. Whether it’s speaking at industry conferences, hosting workshops, or engaging with his online audience, Nick’s mission has always been to empower others to dream big and act boldly.
Comments: I do speak at industry events, but I don’t think my influence extends beyond that. Ask my three kids if in doubt!
Over the years, The Ambitions Agency has expanded its offerings, delving into influencer collaborations, e-commerce strategy, and personalised branding solutions. Today, it stands as a testament to Nick’s relentless pursuit of innovation and his ability to adapt to the ever-changing digital landscape.
Nick’s ultimate goal? To redefine what it means to “grow ambitiously” and leave a lasting legacy in the world of marketing and beyond.
Comments: Yuk. This is a load of fluff. I’m not a fan of fluffy marketing.
As I said in the film above, the goal of this business is always to deliver commercial results for business owners. It means that at the end of the year review with our clients, we can have a joyous occasion where people tell me that they’ve been able to hire the person they’ve always dreamed of hiring, they’ve been able to go on the holiday they’ve always dreamed of going on, buy the bigger house … or whatever their dream is. We love that!
