Richard James

I am responsible for the technical design and build of sites here at the agency. My focus is on ensuring the sites we deliver are to spec, efficient and secure. I am particularly well equipped to evaluate client needs or problems and design solutions which elegantly solve these.

I have circa 20 years experience in the IT and web industry having gained a Bachelors Degree in computer science in 2003. After qualifying my first professional role was designing databases to model business data and allow for the simple extraction of complex datasets. I progressed to writing application software to access this data and provide reporting functionality. In 2006 I progressed to back end web development in frameworks such as Laravel and Opencart marrying my knowledge of relational databases and coding with eCommerce and digital marketing. What I love about web is that my work can reach so many people, this has always been a motivating factor in my work and is the reason I take great pride in putting in the extra time to build innovative, well designed and implemented systems.

More recently I have spent a lot of my time developing my skills as a front end developer building on my knowledge of languages such as JavaScript and utilising frameworks such as React which has afforded me the ability to deliver cutting edge robust systems.

Outside work I’m sometimes to be found at festivals of the beer or music variety or walking in the mountains in Wales or closer to home on Dartmoor.
